This website was created for the art-loving traveler. The United States College Board has identified 250 pieces of art for its curriculum that were carefully selected to educate students about art history. The chosen works represent cultures from prehistory to the present and advance a comprehensive understanding of art through a global lens. Many art historians deem them to be the most important pieces to understanding the history of art.
If you find that you have free time when you are traveling and want to go and see one of these masterpieces, all you need to do is click on the map to learn what to see near where you are standing. Typically, museums that house the works are free so this education is accessible to all with any type of internet connection. If your heart is set on seeing a specific piece please be aware that sometimes works tour outside their home museum or are off display for cleaning, etc.
We’re always keen to add more artworks to this site. If you have suggestions, please complete the form below.
